Femininity and neoliberalism in popular Spanish television series during economic recession (2008-2015)

This paper evaluates the models of female subjectivity in most viewed Spanish TV series during period economic recession, as interpretive accounts ideological tensions underlying a context that rethinks role women. The qualitative analysis applied to ten coprotagonists these fictions, shows characters lacking leadership and proactivity public sphere, whose natural competencies are limited resilience adapt austerity has occurred, who act moral contrast male entrepreneur by updating gender stereotypes neoliberal imaginary.
